The Cog of Kampen

The Kamper Kogge (Cog of Kampen) is an authentic recreation as possible of a trade vessel from the fourteenth century. Volunteers of the Cog of Kampen Association make every effort to keep the ship sailing – the only sailing cog in the Netherlands – to contribute to the cultural history of the Hanseatic city of Kampen and the sailing heritage of the Netherlands.

What can you do here?

Soak up the ambience of yore in the hold of the Cog of Kampen, take a look in the medieval fisherman’s cottage at the Koggewerf, see how they built such a ship and admire special medieval findings in the exhibition space. At one of the most beautiful spots of Kampen, right next to the IJssel, visitors to the Koggewerf will have much to see and do.

Those who are interested can take a guided tour along the shipyard and the cog, participate in a treasure hunt or soak up the ambience on board de Zwarte Dame (Black Lady) during a boat trip complete with shanties, stories and a delicious lunch. The Koggewerf is also a perfect setting for a fun and original children’s party, company trip or workshop day.
